Its waterproof and very warmI bought this to put in my bag in case I ever needed it and at The Gathering Of The Juggalos, I very much needed it. It was storming for the week I was there, even though our tent was water resistant, condensation would drip in and a couple tears formed so our tent had some decent puddles. I opened this bivvy up on top of a puddle in the tent, and it completely kept out all the water. Very very warm too, not the most ideal for an Ohio summer night but it’ll keep you toasty. Upon waking up, the inside was totally coated with my sweat, so I decided to just use it as a “dry” bag to keep my stuff in for protection from the rain. I put in 2 heavily-stuffed backpacks and a garbage bag of clothes into the bivvy, I was immediately impressed, the material is strong, didnt show any signs of ripping or tearing while I picked it up and allowed the weight of my backpacks to hang in it.TLDR: 1. I slept in a rain puddle and stayed dry, although the inside got coated in sweat. 2, very thermal insulating, kept me very warm, hence the sweat. 3, strong material that wont rip under normal circumstances. Although I was not in a “survival” situation, this bivvy came in handy in a rainy tent at a music festival when we had no car to stay dry in. I would buy again, its very compact and light, you can keep multiple in a bag and it will serve its purposes

Decent productFor the price you’re doing ok here. I hike and camp in very rough country. My only advice is if you’re hanging this off a loop get a sturdier and locking carbiner

Great Complement to my Emergency PrepI purchased this product to round out my Get-Home bag, which doubles as an emergency kit for my Jeep. I was surprised how lightweight and compact this product is. After having read many reviews – both positive and negative – I decided to remove the bag from its pouch. While the material is very thin, I expected it to be more so, making it likely to be a one-time, disposable bag. Instead, if treated properly, should last for several uses – should anyone experience the misfortune of finding themselves in an emergency situation more than once…Being nearly 6’ and 230 lbs, I wanted to make sure the bag could accommodate me so I opened it up, stepped into it and pulled it up over my head. Very quickly, I noticed it’s heat-retaining qualities. It seems entirely capable of performing as advertised, tho laying on my living room floor is far different from huddling under a makeshift shelter on a temperature-plummeting night; I hope I’ll never need to put this product to the test. Keep in mind this product is wind and waterproof, meaning it is a moisture barrier inside AND out. As the directions state, condensation will occur inside the bag if you don’t allow for occasional ventilation. It’s like being in a giant trash bag. Use common sense and one can stay warm and dry for the extent of its need. Many complained in their reviews of not being able to refold and roll the bag tightly enough to get it back to its original size and into the pouch. While it did take about ten minutes to be sure all the air was removed from it as it was folded, I assure you it is entirely possible to get it back into its pouch exactly as it was received. In my opinion, this was money well-spent and recommend it for any emergency need.

Good for Day pack or Car E-kitThis is essentially a long plastic bag of reasonable quality. Seams are reinforced. I could easily scoot into the thing with ample room-length and width – at 5’10”, 170lbs. Quality stuff sack, working emergency whistle with built in d-ring.I opted to use this product for my day pack / car e-kit with the assumption of addressing short-term emergencies (inside of 5 days). Based on the assumption of addressing a short-term emergency:LIKE: sturdy for intent, lightweight, small, repackable (I took it out for fit and to see if a fleece sleeping bag would fit in it & vice versa)DISLIKE: super-noisy (not ideal for BOB when you may need to be quiet even when your tossing & turning at night), a bit pricey even though I like the thing I feel like the components are pretty inexpensive to have a lower price pointFor my BOB, I chose a SOL Escape (more money) in combination with a cheapo flannel Coleman sleeping bag. The BOB means you’re probably not coming back home and may need to be wherever for an extend period of time. While the Tact Bivvy is a thin polyester plastic to maintain lightness and packability, I am not convinced it would hold up to pulling it in and out of the bag for extended periods of ‘wandering.’While I am pleased with the purchase, I think it could be a bit less expensive hence 4 stars.

PerfectPerfect for my bug out bag. Takes up little space and is super lightweight.

Emergency Kit EssentialThis is exactly what I wanted for my emergency kit when hunting and backpacking. There are a lot of great reviews for this item. One should note, this is an emergency item. It is not meant to be a cheap way to replace your sleeping bag while on an overnight journey. This is for emergencies and if you keep your head and are reasonably prepared, this may very well save your life. It is NOT meant for you to insert your sleeping bag into as a cover. Maybe if you were out and exposed and there was a terrible rain or snow storm, maybe you would insert your sleeping bag. This item does not “breath” so condensation will build up and could soak your bag. Frankly I would not use it as an “insert” to my sleeping bag. Again, it does not “breath” and condensation will build up. This well made bizy sack is meant for emergencies and could very well save your life. If you take it out of the sack, it takes time to put it back in. It is not a toy for your kids sleep overs. IF I have to use this bizy sack, I plan to use it only once and that is because I would have messed up and got stuck somewhere.

I have it in case of emergency will keep in carI liked the color can conceal my area with out being noticed in a wood line

  8. rockabillybanger

THIS COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!When I first tried to buy this on Amazon it was sold out! ( that speaks something about this product ) Bummer! I waited and saw it was going to be in stock again and put my order in. I read lots of other reviews first mind you.NOW FOR THE “COME TO JESUS” TALK…. It seems some folks have unrealistic expectations. Some have bought this for recreational purposes. Don’t do this, this is an emergency bivy/sleeping bag only!! It’s not made for comfort! It’s not soft and comply. It’s made to help you stay alive if things go bad and you find yourself outside in the cold. It will do what it’s designed to do and well. It’s not breathable so venting it will be nessesary as per the instructions. You may be a little damp but you’ll be alive!! That’s the point right? I bought it because it looks sturdier than other bags of the same purpose. I bought it because it will fit me, I’m 5’11” and 260 lbs. I bought it for my bug out bag. I’m a prepper and spend a lot of time out doors if at all possible and so I know what my requirements are, I understand what the limitations of this bag are. Yes I’d buy it again! I own similar products by other manufacturers but think I will buy a second one of these as a back up should I have to bug out for a longer time than expected. Buy this, understand what it’s for, stash it and hope you never have to use it!

Don’t know How Well It Will Hold Up Over TimeSo my purpose for purchasing this sleeping bag was emergency survival. I don’t expect long term use out of it, I do expect it to do its job for one or two nights and I think in that context it will do well.

  10. Baron Booth

Decent for the moneyThis is a great thing for EMERGENCIES. I bought it for regular lightweight camping to replace a sleeping bag or blanket. Second trip I used it on, it did catch 3 small holes about the diameter of a pencil from twigs but that was partially my fault. I didn’t clean up the area as much as I should have and I did actually get up and try to walk around because it is waterproof and it was pouring rain. So durability is ehh but I am gunna keep it and I will keep using it in the future but only in extreme cold because it will get you really HOT really FAST. I was sweating in it both times I used it and of course when it was raining on trip 2, I can’t just pull it halfway down and uncover (minimalist camping, no tents) but overall, it did a good job of doing it’s job. I was warm and dry
