Wilderness First Aid Class in Washington

The HSI Wilderness First Aid course is meticulously designed to equip first aid providers with the skills and knowledge necessary to operate effectively in the wild. It equips individuals with the ability to manage emergencies with limited resources, extended care periods, and the critical understanding of when to evacuate sick or injured individuals.

Currently, we offer this course exclusively to groups, agencies, and corporate clients.

Key points:

  • – The course capacity is limited to 12 students.
  • – All participants must possess a current Basic First Aid and CPR/AED certification (with the option to add an additional day for the basic class).
  • – Participants must demonstrate physical fitness and generally good health, capable of navigating uneven terrain.

The course comprises two days of training, with approximately eight hours allocated to each day. The inclusion of Basic First Aid, CPR, and AED training should you need it extends the duration by approximately half a day, equating to 4.5 hours.

Day One:

– Northwest Response requires a large conference or meeting room equipped with audiovisual capabilities. The space should be sufficiently spacious to accommodate students practicing patient handling (moving) and other first aid-related exercises. Tables and chairs for all students.

Day Two:

– The second day will be conducted in a remote or semi-remote outdoor setting, mirroring the real-world scenarios where students will apply their acquired skills. State and National Parks offer numerous suitable picnic shelters that can be reserved for staging purposes. When selecting a location, it is imperative to ensure that the area is not visible to spectators, thereby facilitating students’ focus and concentration.
